Newcastle will be joining the ranks of London, Manchester and Leeds with the opening of stylish all-day restaurant, The Alchemist.
The new restaurant will be located within intu Eldon Square’s exciting new catering development, Grey’s Quarter and will occupy a double fronted site, facing both internally towards the mall and externally onto Newcastle’s Nelson Street.
So what do you need to know about The Alchemist?
The restaurant and bar is part of the Living Ventures Group, who operate a number of high profile brands in the UK restaurant sector, including Gusto and the New World Trading Co (who, in turn, are behind popular city centre bar, The Botanist).
The Alchemist launched in 2010 and it now operates in five locations, with two restaurants in Manchester, another two in Leeds and one in London.
Open for coffee, brunch, lunch, dinner and cocktails – it’s a go-to destination for food and drink come day or night. We visited The Alchemist on New York Street in Manchester last year and were impressed by their selection of cocktails, which includes the luscious Solero, White Chocolate and Raspberry Martini, and Caramelised Rum Punch.
The decor is best described as theatrical and ambient, mixing plush furnishings with quirky nods to the art of alchemy and all things experimental.
Simon Potts, Managing Director of The Alchemist, says: “We are really looking forward to bringing The Alchemist to Newcastle and to being part of the fantastic restaurant space at intu Eldon Square. Our designers are working on eye catching plans for the venue that will reflect the rich history of this fantastic city and we look forward to wowing guests with our molecular mixology and creative food offering later this year.”
intu Eldon Square’s new Grey’s Quarter is set to open this year. Other restaurants confirmed for the new development include: TGI Fridays, Tapas Revolution, Ed’s Diner, Frankie & Benny’s, Chiquito, Bella Italia, Handmade Burgers and Giraffe.
