British make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury debuted her make-up and skincare range in the UK in 2013, but it was back in October that her glitzy counter arrived here in Newcastle, in Fenwick’s beauty hall.
You can hardly fail to notice the new counter as you walk through the store and after breezing past on numerous occasions, I decided that I would treat myself to a makeover as soon as a special event popped in my diary. Come early December, my staff Christmas party was the very occasion I had been waiting for!
Firstly, my make-up artist Alexandra cleansed my skin with Multi Miracle Glow – a cream-to-oil balm enriched with vitamins and floral extracts. She then applied Magic Cream, a formula Charlotte herself has tested on models for a number of years, which left my skin hydrated and supple.
Alexandra then used Wonderglow, a primer that glides onto the skin, leaving it luminous and catwalk dewy. The product’s soft focus ceramic microspheres ‘roll’ across your skin’s imperfections, promising to scatter light to create a smooth, youthful appearance. What I love about this product is that it can be used underneath foundation; on its own for a natural look; or dappled onto cheek and brow bones for an instant day to night pick-me-up.
For a lightweight coverage, Light Wonder Foundation in number 2 was applied to my face using a flat brush. This is usually the point during a makeover when uncertainty sets in, as I don’t like heavy make-up. Thankfully, the foundation provided a barely there thin veil of coverage – just the way I like it!
Retoucher Concealer, Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder and Filmstar Bronze and Glow (a sculpting and highlighting product) completed my look.
Charlotte Tilbury has devised 10 iconic beauty looks. So whether you want to channel your inner rock chick or something altogether more sultry and glamorous – Charlotte has got it covered.
Described as ‘pretty polished perfection’ – I opted for Uptown Girl, a palette that, apparently, is popular with the likes of Keira Knightley and Olivia Palermo.
The luxury eye palette features a quartet of beautiful shades: champagne, oyster and smoky greys. Alexandra used all four shades to create a sophisticated smoky eye, with a pop of shimmer smudged over my eyelids for a festive twist. The Classic eyeliner pencil in Audrey added definition to my lash line and to finish off my eyes, Alexandra curled my lashes before applying a few coats of Full Fat Lashes Mascara.
As for my lips, she used a trio of products – Lip Cheat lip liner in Pink Venus, K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick in Bitch Perfect and Lip Lustre lacquer in Sweet Stiletto. Combined, they created a nude-come-peachy shade that was ultra hydrating, too.
My verdict? I loved the Uptown Girl look which perfectly complemented my festive party look (pictured above). I bought the eye palette which I tone down for everyday wear and once I’ve saved up the pennies, I’ll be looking to buy the Wonderglow primer, as I was really impressed with this product.
A Charlotte Tilbury makeover at Fenwick is priced at £35, which is redeemable against a product on the day.
