Last weekend, Newcastle Does Vintage made a return visit to the city, bringing its usual mix of funky clothing, glittery jewellery and quirky homewares – oh, and some scrumptious tea and cake!
Held this time at Newcastle Civic Centre, the vintage fair filled the banqueting hall with lots of vintage finds and fashion inspired by yesteryear.
Beautiful floral tea dresses and cosy fur coats were a few of the staples hanging on the rails. Other stalls stocked a kitsch selection of hats and bags; the perfect accompaniment to any classic look from a bygone era.
And as for the jewellery – sparkle was in abundance! I loved the selection of butterfly brooches and elegant necklaces featuring giant gemstones. I ended up treating myself to a dainty pink bracelet from Jealous Cow.
Vintage singer and choreographer Hildy Harland delivered dance workshops throughout the afternoon (which, I should add, were very entertaining to watch) and there was also live music and a mini beauty bar styling some perfectly coiffed retro do’s.
Soaking up the vintage ambience, I enjoyed a lovely elderflower drink and slice of lemon drizzle cake from the fair’s makeshift tearoom, too.
Overall, Newcastle Does Vintage made for a lovely day out and it’s perfect if you like a good ol’ rummage for something that little bit special.
